One of the most iconic turbocharged Porsches of all time 1 of 34 U.S. Imported Coupes in 1989 G50 5-Speed Manual Transmission – 1 Year Only! 3.2-liter Twin Turbo Flat-Six Engine (285 H.P. / 330 lb-ft Torque) Black full leather interior Sunroof Power-adjustable seats Air conditioning Blaupunkt Reno SQR 46 cassette stereo Includes “Certificate of Authenticity”, Owner’s Manual, Jack, Spare Tire and Tools Original, Beautiful and eminently collectible A total of 1,945 Porsche 930s were imported to the U.S. in 1989; only 147 of them were Slantnoses, of which just 34 were coupes. Well-documented, Concours Quality, Low Production Porsches are getting harder to find, and this 930 Turbo has all of the most desirable features in place. In the day, many believed the 1989 930 Turbos to be the last of a special breed of brutally fast and aggressive-looking Porsches with no follow-up model to replace them. Because of the G50 gearbox, the 1989 is widely considered the best of the 930s. The roots of the Slantnose design can be traced back to Porsche's dominant motorsport endeavors in the 1970s. The aerodynamic benefits of a sloping front end, inspired by the 935, were evident on the track. This design reduced drag and improved high-speed stability, making it an attractive proposition for performance-oriented road cars. Starting in 1982, the late Rolf Sprenger’s Special Wishes/Exclusive Department at Porsche executed Slantnose conversions to mimic the aggressive appearance of the brand’s 935 racers. Originally introduced as a special-order option from 1982 to 1985, the distinctive slant nose design set it apart as a symbol of speed and luxury. It wasn't until 1986 that this model became a production car in the United States, marking a significant shift in Porsche's strategy to cater to the American market's growing demand for high-performance sports cars. The 1989 model 930 is noteworthy because it included a 5-speed gearbox. The former 4-speed was a beefed-up Type 915 unit. Porsche withstood torrents of complaints over that 4-speed, saying the Turbo needed that stronger transmission. That dilemma was solved when Porsche adopted the sturdy Getrag-built “G50” gearbox in 1987 for Carrera models, then shared it with Turbos in 1989. The G50 Turbo would be a single-year model. The production of this incredible car was discontinued in 1990 due to emissions constraints. Now that we’ve covered some history, let’s take a closer look at this iconic design. At first glance, you will fall in love with the striking appearance of the 1989 Porsche Turbo Slantnose, a masterpiece of automotive design that demands attention. Its sleek and aerodynamic silhouette is accentuated by the iconic factory M505 option code, showcasing the coveted Slantnose design that sets it apart from the ordinary. The Guards Red exterior explodes under the sunlight, hinting at the power and performance that lie within. The pop-up headlights add a touch of mystique, while the tea tray rear spoiler humbly nods to the Turbo's formidable capabilities. In addition, Canepa installed a 930S Front Spoiler & OEM Driving Lamps. This front spoiler was only available on the European spec cars because if it had been added to the US cars it would have required an additional D.O.T. test. It is the design-element that was part of the 930 Slantnose from its unveiling in 1983. Our subject car was 1 of 34 Slantnose coupes for North America in 1989. The car was option-laden, with a limited-slip differential, short shifter, sunroof, lumbar support for the luxury leather seats, a radio upgrade, and, of course, the M505 “Slantnose Body Option.” Step closer, and you'll appreciate the finer details, from the off-center Porsche crest on the steering wheel to the aerodynamic enhancements that define Porsche's commitment to both style and performance. For those who crave not just performance but a connection to automotive history, the Turbo Slantnose beckons with irresistible allure. Its factory M505 option code, personalized touches, and limited production make it a rare gem in the world of sports cars—a testament to Porsche's unwavering commitment to pushing boundaries and satisfying the desires of its most discerning customers. The road awaits, and the Turbo Slantnose is ready to take you on a journey unlike any other. Dare to make your mark in automotive history with this exceptional Porsche masterpiece.
